About - Region 10 Community Wellness Coalition

The Region 10 Community Wellness Coalition was established in 2010 by a group of concerned community members to address underage drinking and its associated risk factors within the towns of Harwinton and Burlington. The coalition continues to be an asset to the community with strong support from the Region 10 School District administration and the First Selectmen of both towns.

A Few Words About Us

Since our start, the Coalition has grown and been awarded a grant through the Connecticut Strategic Prevention Framework Coalition Initiative (CSC) from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, allowing for a full-time Prevention Coordinator through the McCall Center for Behavioral Health, and a Youth Advocate. The CWC employs a student representative to organize local youth for the cause and to represent youth at the Coalition’s monthly meetings. The Region 10 CWC believes that prevention of substance use like underage drinking will benefit the community, and that membership from all sectors of the community is important for effecting positive environmental change.
